Personalized instruction
under industry experts.
We have a large, well equipped shop, which is housed in a historic lodge building built in 1906. We are pleased to offer bench space to aspiring builders, guitar techs, players, hobbyists, or anyone interested in learning the art of Lutherie. We specialize in individual and small group instruction that is specifically tailored to what the student wants to learn. We can help you learn to set-up and maintain your own instruments, we can help you design and build the guitar of your dreams from the ground up, or we can prepare you for a career in lutherie. The focus and pace is all up to you!
"If you're going to take lessons, you'll probably want to take them from teachers that possess a burning passion for what they're teaching. Gene Imbody and Erick Coleman will show you the bare basics all the way up to master level lutherie, with years of experience to back it up. Plus, they're funny, patient, music loving guys! Walking through the doors of United Lutherie is stepping into a world where music, science, and the pursuit of the perfect instrument are laid bare on the table. You will be taught by masters of the art in the direct, hands on application of all aspects of repair and construction. All in a really amazing building with every tool you can think of, and some you haven't! I can't recommend them highly enough."
