Handwound pickups - Call or email for availability
Each pickup
is unique.
It has it's own characteristics and subtle nuances that set
it apart from any other. That is the magic of a quality hand guided pickup...no
two sound exactly alike. We use American made 42 Gauge Enamel Coated
wire and a variety of Alnico Magnets just like the originals. But the
fact of the matter is not all original PAFs sounded good, and the only
way to tell if you have a good sounding pickup is to listen to it.
So -
we take the time to install and play on every pickup we make before we
call it finished. We are professional luthiers, musicians, and collectors
and we build all of our pickups in small batches by hand in our Southern
Ohio workshop. We have years of experience restoring some of the world's
finest instruments, and we keep on hand a variety of vintage guitars
and amplifiers to serve as examples. We know tone.
Each pickup is installed in an appropriate guitar for it's type, and
tested through a variety of vintage Marshall and Fender amplifiers. If
we don't like the sound we get, the pickup is torn down and rebuilt until
we get it right. It's that simple...We are fanatics and proud of it. We also understand that the phenomenon of tone is subjective, and that
quality instruments have their own unique voice.
If a pickup does not
meet your expectations, let us know. We will work with you to create
a one that suits your ear and instrument. We will help you find the
tone you are looking for... Together we are United Lutherie.
All pickups have an unconditional 30 day exchange
policy. If you don't like the sound of your pickup, let us know and we
will exchange it for a different one. If we fail to make a pickup that
meets your expectations, we will refund your money!
